Why Squarespace?

How do you know which platform is the right platform? There are tons of opinions and so many options available for business owners and brands.

But many small business owners we know start off on Wordpress or stay committed to Wordpress as king even when it gives them headaches and ongoing frustration to manage. And although Wordpress has it’s place, we recommend Squarespace over Wordpress for most of our clients.

I’ve been creating, editing, and designing websites since 2015 and like many small business owners we started on Wordpress too. We’ve also used other platforms such as Shopify (which I also recommend for my clients with e-commerce businesses), but overall we recommend Squarespace for the majority of our clients and here are our top 10 reasons why.

Top 10 Reasons We Recommend Squarespace for Our Clients:

  1. Let go of those Website worries - With Squarespace there is no need for updates, back-ups, plug-ins, or worry about security. (like getting hacked… I’ve heard nightmare stories of clients losing their entire websites). Squarespace is a closed-source platform so it’s their responsibility to keep your website up to date, backed-up, and meet the latest requirements (including security of site, mobile friendly, etc.). Plus with Squarespace you get a free SSL certificate -which is required to ensure sites are safe and secure for website visitors.

  2. Functional + User Friendly - Squarespace is low maintenance. It is easy to maintain, edit, manage & it can grow with you. Say goodbye to back-end editing, you can edit on each page simply and easily. Editing, adding pages, adding blocks to pages is all straight forward and allows business owners to easily manage their site once it has been designed. It removes the need for business owners to keep web designers on retainer to keep building new pages or “fix” broken back-end issues.

  3. You don’t need a theme - Themes seem like a good idea but they can actually be quite limiting design wise, plus they can add a layer of complication when trying to add a page, edit, design your website. With Squarespace there are templates, but with every template you have full access to every design element Squarespace offers, plus they are fully customizable and you never have to worry about if your theme is updated or mobile optimized.

  4. Beautiful Design + Fully Customizable - It only takes 0.05 seconds (50 milliseconds) for users to form an opinion about your website and whether they’ll stay or leave. And 38% of users will stop engaging with a website if the layout or content is confusing and/or unattractive. That’s why beautiful design, layout, and the customization of websites is so important. With Squarespace you get beautiful designed templates plus the ability to customize each page with features already built into the site + with the use of custom code. Every template is flexible and can be designed to really represent & amplify the story and the mission of your brand/business.

  5. Great for Blogging - Squarespace is blogger friendly. It offers a simple, plus customizable blogging feature. You can add a search function, featured blogs, & customize each blog post. The Blogging section includes features, like scheduling ahead, adding customized content, tagging & categorization, sharing the post link to your social media pages, and adding a Pinterest Pin button automatically to your blog images. You can even monetize your blog directly through Squarespace.

6. Mobile Optimized - 55% of website page views come from mobile phones & 57% of users say they won’t recommend a business with a poorly designed website on mobile. Squarespace automatically optimizes your site for mobile, without having to worry about a broken or finicky theme that hasn’t been updated or doesn’t quite translate to mobile. Plus with the new fluid engine, you can customize your mobile design.

7. All-in-One Integrated Platform - Everything in Squarespace is integrated including hosting/domain, G suite, integrates with Google Analytics, Google Search Console, even includes Pinterest buttons. Want to add a shop, start an e-commerce business, add a course, or membership portion to your site you can do all this within Squarespace without the need for any plug-ins.

8. SEO Settings - One of the common myths about Squarespace is that it isn’t good for SEO, but it’s just not true. Squarespace has native SEO settings built in that allow you to maximize your SEO. Including SEO settings for each page title & description, Meta tags, Image tags, Back links, create a customized Error 404 page, etc. And because of these built-in SEO settings Squarespace websites are Google friendly.

9. Cost + Investment - A myth about Wordpress is it’s free, but is it really after you add the cost of hosting, the number of plug-ins required, backing up, keeping your system safe, hiring web designers to add a page every time you need one, or the cost in your time trying to figure out (or worrying) about how to edit/fix your backend. With Squarespace there are no extra fees, everything you need is built into the platform. And because it’s an all-in-one streamlined platform it can save you money as it includes hosting, G Suite, and so many features that come native to the platform without adding an additional plug-in cost.

10. Customer Support - Squarespace offers amazing 24/7 Customer Support. If you ever do need help or assistance with your website they have an extremely helpful, open 24/7 customer support team that will to fix any problems related to your site. Plus they include a chat option (with real people in real time) to help support you with any problem you may have.
