The Shine Bright School is a community committed to Black Liberation. We thrive in community. Actively engaging in and building community is an act of reclamation. Especially because, living in a society that teaches us to adopt individualism, which disconnects us from ourselves and others —our humanity. In building community, we can work to repair the harm that is done by believing that we’re alone or that we must handle and do things on our own. It helps us to heal, to grow and to do life feeling more seen, supported and connected.
Branding + Web Design
We worked with Monique Melton on her brand expansion and rebrand. Monique wanted to create a separate website and brand from her anti-racism & liberation work. Our goal was to keep the two connected, but distinct. For the Shine Bright School brand expansion, we created a new logo, secondary logo, favicon, design elements, branding, and custom website.
We started curating a new brand color palette based on Monique’s signature pinks (hot pink & light pink), from there we worked with jewel tones for a rich, bold look. For typography we selected fonts that stood out and had personality that would both amplify the brand & announce that there is something important being said.

Our goal was to design a website and brand identity that amplified the Shine Bright School’s mission of community, Black liberation, education and Black joy.

We created custom social media templates, custom slide decks for presentations and speaking events, and custom workbooks for courses that have evolved and grown with the Shine Bright School community & Monique’s speaking & courses.
Website Design
Our goal in designing the website was to provide a platform that amplified the mission and the message of the Shine Bright School. And to create a website that is vibrant, inviting, engaging and provide opportunities for people to join the community.
